At a Union meeting last fall, Diane Rogers entered the computer contest and then never gave it a second thought.  As a billing specialist at Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center in Dorchester, Diane uses a computer to execute her work. But she’s never had the opportunity to learn other programs or even set up her own personal email account.  This is all about to change, thanks to the Union’s effort to increase computer literacy. 

"I’ve watched my children and grandchildren as they work on the computer and just been fascinated by computers for the past ten years.  I couldn’t be more surprised that I’ve won my own."

Diane has used the Internet to do a job search and to look for different songs and musicians that she likes.  Yet she knows that she’s capable of using a computer to do so much more.  "I watch my co-workers and I can tell they have an ease that I don't have yet.  I know that having a computer in my home is going to connect me to more people and more opportunities in my life.  Thank you 1199SEIU!"
