MidHudson Picket
May 20, 2015
More than a year and a half ago, MidHudson Regional Hospital workers voted to join 1199SEIU, United Healthcare Workers East. They voted for a union so that they could have a voice regarding wages, benefits, safety issues, and of course, quality care.
As a union, the workers have been trying to negotiate a fair contract with MidHudson Regional Hospital, but have been unable come to a just agreement. Our proposals are fair and they are reasonable.
We need livable wages and annual raises, in order to make ends meet at home.We require affordable health benefits, so that we can take care of ourselves, at the same time that we care for the ill and injured in our community. We deserve apension, so that we can retire with dignity after serving our community for many years. We must have training and education opportunities, so that we can keep up with the fast-paced changes in the healthcare industry.
On Wednesday, May 27, we are coming together for an informational picket to make our voices heard. We want to inform the community about our situation, and how it impacts healthcare workers, quality care and the area economy.
Now is the time to take action! We will be at the front entrance of the hospital from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sign up at the form to the right to let us know you will join!
Remember: No one can be fired, or penalized for participation in an informational picket. Informational picketing is not a strike or work stoppage, but rather a way to inform our patients and the public that we are standing up for them, and show management we are united. It is critical that all members participate in the informational picketing, during lunch, breaks and before or after our shifts, so we can make our voices heard!
