Helen Sandiford-Ayers has been a nurse for decades and still loves her job. Currently she works at North Shore Medical Center. Over the years, Sandiford-Ayers has worked at different hospitals and departments from post-partum to cardiac and telemetry. She admits that when she was a young adult, she had reservations about a career in nursing because of one fear—the sight of blood. This fear stems from a childhood health problem. Despite this potential roadblock nearly 40 years ago, Sandiford-Ayers applied for a civil service nursing program in Trinidad, her native homeland. To her surprise, she was accepted.

When Lauren Malic was a little girl growing up in New Orleans, her dream was to become a nurse. Years later, she never lost sight of her dream, even after her family lost everything when Hurricane Katrina ripped the roof off their home. They relocated to Florida, Malic enrolled in nursing school and got a job as a transporter at UHealth Tower in Miami. But money was tight.
PURPOSE: This seminar is offered to meet the training requirements of Chapter 544 of the Laws of 1988 that states that all physicians, chiropractors, dentists, registered nurses, podiatrists, optometrists, psychologists and dental hygienists must provide documentation of having completed two hours coursework or training about the identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment to obtain or renew a license. The target audience are registered nurses and other licensed professionals who require this training.
This program is designed to prepare Professional Registered Nurses to take the Medical Surgical Nurse Certification Examination by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
This seminar is offered to meet training requirements of Chapter 786 of the Laws of 1992 that states that certain healthcare professionals licensed in New York State must receive training on Infection Control and Barrier Precautions every 4 years unless otherwise exempted. This statue applies to: dental hygienists, dentists, licensed practical nurses, optometrists, physicians, physician assistants, podiatrists, registered nurses, and special assistants. The target audience are registered nurses and other licensed professionals who require this training.
The PALS Full Provider Course Program is designed to provide healthcare professionals the essential knowledge and skills for a successful resuscitation of an adult patient by performing BLS and ACLS based on the AHA 2005 guidelines.
This program is designed to offer nurses who are interested in learning or enhancing skills and knowledge in the principles and practices of hospital based case management. All participants must attend at least 90% of each module in order to earn the designated number of contact hours for that module.
This Educational Activity will build upon the knowledge base of the experienced critical care nurses and help them prepare for passing the CCRN - Adult certification. It will also serve as a refresher course for those who are currently CCRN certified and wish to renew their certification by either contact hours or seating for the examination.
