Two hundred fifty Home Health Aides at Best Care Long Island have just joined with 1199SEIU in a unanimous election. The workers joined with over 2,000 of their colleagues at Best Care in New York City who are already members of the union.

“I love my job, ,” said Leslie A. Antolini, an HHA with Best Care Long Island. “However, with low pay, no benefits and miscommunications with the home office, I feel our union will not only help myself, but my co-workers as well.”

Ange Lucie Desir, another HHA with the agency, added: “I voted yes for 1199SEIU because we deserve health insurance, better wages and paid days off.”

With more than 70,000 home health aides, home attendants and housekeepers, the Homecare Division is 1199’s largest and fastest growing division.
