Caregivers NJ

May 17, 2013

I am writing to you in support of more than 80 dedicated nursing home workers who are trying to renew their collective bargaining agreement at Manchester Manor Rehabilitation Center.

These caregivers not only work in the Manchester area, but are also community residents who, along with their families, make significant contributions to the region’s economy. They are members of 1199 SEIU, United Healthcare Workers East, whose mission is to improve and expand quality patient care and to protect and improve the lives of their members, families and neighbors, in cooperation with their employers and communities.

Their contract negotiations have been about more than wage and benefit economics; their first priority is their residents and respect and dignity for the workers who care for them. A fair contract means a sound work environment, peace of mind for caregivers and their residents and economic stability for the entire region.
