January 23, 2015

The AFRAM caucus hosted a number of events to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the Bay State last week. 1199ers took part in the annual MLK Jr. Day Breakfast at the Boston International Convention Center, volunteered at the Roxbury Boys and Girls Club, and attending a screening of the movie Selma.

As members of 1199SEIU, we always have a meeting, campaign, or event. So the AFRAM members agreed to add something social that would represent Dr. Martin Luther King Jr," said AFRAM Caucus President Brian Johnson. He continued, "It was a day of service to honor one of our greatest community servants. At the Boys and Girls Club, we volunteered helping out in the club welcoming guests at the sign in table. After volunteering, AFRAM viewed the movie Selma to connect with the day of service"
