1199SEIU POSITION ON COVID-19 VACCINATION

COVID-19 vaccines have been established to be safe and highly effective in reducing the risk of infection and preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death for those who become infected.

We believe that education should be the first strategy to promote vaccination, and we have focused tremendous resources on communicating with our members to answer their questions, address their concerns, and encourage vaccination. At this juncture, vaccination is not simply an option, it’s mandatory – and for good reason – because as healthcare workers, our actions have a greater impact on public health than any other workforce sector.

After all we have seen over the last year and a half, we owe it to our patients, our co-workers, and our communities to get vaccinated.
