1199SEIU Florida We Care Committee (WCC) Features New Film & Discussion On Importance Of Voting Yes On Amendment 4
November 1, 2024
On Importance Of Voting Yes On Amendment 4 In the most recent 1199SEIU Florida We Care Committee (WCC) online meeting, caregivers discussed the importance of voting yes on Amendment 4 in this November’s election to reverse the state’s extreme, dangerous and intrusive six-week abortion ban.
Hosted by 1199SEIU member leaders, the WCC is a monthly online meeting that brings together caregivers, community leaders and the public who are committed to improving care in Florida’s hospitals and nursing homes, as well as the overall wellbeing of Floridians.
The recent WCC’s special guest and presenter was Rivkah Beth Medow, producer of “Outcry – Alchemists of Rage,” a new documentary highlighting the power of women’s voices culminating with the movement that returned access to reproductive freedoms and abortion rights in Ohio. (To view the film for free through November 5, visit: https://forms.gle/n47pEy2gqGv8SLnz9.)
Medow discussed lessons learned in Ohio, crises faced by women in other states that have passed extreme abortion laws, and the importance to pass Amendment 4 in Florida.
Amendment 4 would end Florida’s ban that doesn’t even include real exceptions for rape, incest or the health of the woman. The caregivers of 1199SEIU, the largest union of healthcare workers in Florida hospitals and nursing homes, overwhelmingly endorse the passage of Amendment 4 on this November’s ballot.
Election day is November 5, with early voting open in most major Florida regions until November 3. Please check with your county’s Supervisor of Elections office to confirm dates and your voting location. For more election information, go to www.1199votes.org.
