Family Healthcare Physician Explains Why She Supports Amendment 4 - Protecting Women’s Reproductive Healthcare

September 27, 2024

Women’s reproductive healthcare is on the ballot this November. An important amendment Florida voters will consider is Amendment 4. It will end Florida’s extreme, near total abortion ban that has put women at risk and politicians in the middle of their most private medical decisions.

Taylor Walker crop, MD.jpgDr. A. Taylor Walker, a board certified family medicine physician who practices in Boston, says she has seen firsthand the impact Florida’s current 6-week abortion ban has had on Floridians who had to travel far to get the critical care they need.

"It's a tragedy that Florida women are being denied critical medical care since the state passed its dangerous near-total abortion ban.  As a doctor in Boston, I've already treated several Floridians who had to travel and suffer unnecessary delays and emotional distress while facing life-threatening pregnancy complications or carrying a pregnancy following sexual abuse. This issue is very personal to me, as I decided to become a physician after having to fight unnecessary government regulation on my own right to choose. As a doctor and as a woman, I ask you to please Vote Yes On Amendment 4,” said Dr. A. Taylor Walker, MD, MPH Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician and National President, Committee of Interns & Residents-SEIU.
