This week, radio ads featuring 1199SEIU Florida healthcare workers are hitting the airwaves in Tampa and Miami to encourage voters to get to the polls to vote early.



“I was born and raised here in Florida. I would like to see this state change for the better and that’s why I recorded this ad to reach deeper into communities,” said Agnes Ferguson, a Unit Secretary at Northwest Medical Center and 1199SEIU delegate. “Before this year, I had never been big in politics, but now the more I get involved, the more I see how important it is. My children and grandchildren are all on board. We’ve never been a political family, but now my grandchildren are all into the debates.”

» Recorded Ads for Spanish Speakiing Listeners



Marilyn Ralat-Albernas, a nurse at Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami, recorded ads for Spanish speaking listeners in South Florida urging voters to vote early and make their voices heard. “It’s exciting to be a part of reaching people through the radio and to get them thinking about this election. This is a really important election to my husband and me as parents and to our son, who is a first time voter. It makes him proud that his mom is out there canvassing on Saturdays and hears me calling members to ask when they’re voting.”



Ferguson agrees the stakes are high this election.



"I am a single parent and as a woman, I’m one of those people who have struggled to put my kids through college. I want to be able to own my own home and go back to school. I want to see people advance and move forward. I’ve never felt that there were elected officials who were concerned about all of mankind until President Obama came along. I truly believe he cares about all of us, not just a few of us.”
