Today we welcome nearly 100 new Professional and Clerical workers from Bon Secours Community Hospital into the 1199SEIU family. They will join their service worker colleagues at the hospital who have already negotiated some of the best pay and benefits in New York State.

The 96 Professional and Clerical workers voted overwhelmingly, by 77 votes to 19 to join the 1199 family.

By providing compassionate and professional care to people across New York State, our new colleagues embody the spirit of the 1199 local.

1199SEIU is the largest healthcare worker’s union in the US, with more than 450,000 members in five states along the Eastern seaboard. We are one of the fastest growing unions in the country.

As well as having a larger say in their working lives, the newest members at Bon Secours voted to join our union to enable them to negotiate for 1199’s no cost healthcare benefits, pension, child care, job security and educational benefits.
