Today we welcome 18 skilled maintenance workers from Health Alliance Hospital into the 1199SEIU family. They will join thousands of service worker colleagues in New York’s Hudson Valley, who have already negotiated some of the best pay and benefits in the country.

All 18 workers turned out to vote and 17 of them voted ‘Yes”!

By providing compassionate and professional service to patients and relatives at Health Alliance, our new colleagues embody the spirit of the 1199 local.

1199SEIU is the largest healthcare worker’s union in the US, with more than 400,000 members in five states along the Eastern seaboard. We are one of the fastest growing unions in the country.

As well as having a larger say in their working lives, the newest members at Health Alliance voted to join our union to enable them to negotiate for 1199’s no cost healthcare benefits, pension, child care, job security and educational benefits.
