New Jersey Caregivers and Unit Clerks Join with 1199
December 24, 2013
One hundred and ten 110 LPNs, CNAs and unit clerks at Linwood Care Center in Linwood, NJ, voted to join with 1199SEIU on December 4. The workers came together for dignity and respect, a voice in resident care, job security, and fairer pay and treatment.
“I voted yes for our union because I believe the better Linwood treats its workers, the better care we will be able to provide, and the happier and healthier our residents will be,” said Mary E. Van Son, a CNA.
“We need job security, respect, a voice and benefits,” said Abosede Ajay, an LPN with Linwood.
Trevena Dorsey, also an LPN, agreed: “We need benefits, job security and most of respect!”
“I voted yes for equality!” added CNA Marlene Davis.
