November 30, 2013

What’s your name and where do you work?I’m Rashida Teombe, and I’m a laundry aide at Communicare – Fayette. What’s your motto?Treat people the way you want to be treated. What are you most proud of?My kids. My two oldest sons are working and going to school. They’re both at Hopkins, and one is a new delegate. They’re good men. They’re not in the streets. They’ve never been in trouble, which is rare in our neighborhood. It wasn’t easy. It took a lot of years of growing myself, of sacrificing and hard work. But I’m so proud of them.Who outside of your immediate family most inspires you?Ms. Mack. She’s the reason I got involved with the union. She told me, “With all that mouth you got, you better be a delegate.”What’s the most important quality for a delegate to have? You need to be open-minded.What lessons has your work taught you?How to be humble, work hard and be committed. If you were a food, what food would you be?A red hot chili pepper!- See more at: http://www.1199seiu.org/better_know_a_delegate_rashida_teombe#sthash.OWzPl9hw.dpuf
