1199's Commitment to Keeping Communities Together
April 14, 2025
As 1199ers, we know that no matter where you come from or what obstacles you encounter, we are stronger together. Our unity has been critical for contract victories, building our political power, and keeping our communities safe and together.
As the federal government attempts to revoke legal status for millions of immigrants, our communities are in danger. And as healthcare and homecare workers, we know the delivery of care will also be negatively impacted by these unjust actions; exacerbating the current staffing crisis if caregivers are terminated.
This is not how we care for each other or our communities.
Below are resources for those who may be impacted by changes in their immigrations status as well as opportunities for all of us to be informed in supporting our immigrant friends, family, and coworkers.

The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds (TEF) also helps with applying for citizenship and reimburses eligible 1199SEIU Members up to $600*of the U.S. Citizenship Application Fee!
Additionally, 1199 is committed to ongoing conversations with employers and elected officials to ensure workers are able to remain in their jobs and thrive in their communities. Whether at the State House on May 14th for our annual Healthcare and Homecare Advocacy Day or in our communities, this is our fight too.
