Why We Support This Bill |
An Act to Prohibit Mandatory Overtime (Rep. Dan Cahill / Sen. Jacob Oliveira; HD.2024 / SD.1980) |
Extends the existing ban on mandatory overtime for nurses to the entire hospital care team to help reduce fatigue, burnout, and ultimately poorer quality health care. |
Act Requiring Health Care Employers to Develop and Implement Programs to Prevent Workplace Violence (HD.3502/ SD.1639); Rep. John Lawn / Sen. Joan Lovely) |
Requires all Massachusetts hospitals to develop comprehensive programs with worker engagement and protections to help reduce the risk of workplace violence. |
An Act to Address Conflicts of Interest in the use of Temporary Nursing Service Agencies at Skilled Nursing Facilities (Rep. Rita Mendes / Senator Dylan Fernandes; HD.2333 / SD.1836) |
Establishes conflict-of-interest rules prohibiting a temporary nursing agency owner from procuring or providing staff to a nursing home in which they also have an ownership interest. |
An Act to Strengthen the State Home Care Program Workforce (Rep. Frank Moran / Sen. Julian Cyr; HD.872 / SD.556) |
Promotes the uninterrupted delivery of home care services by establishing new “labor peace” processes allowing home care agency workers to more freely choose to join a labor organization, thereby improving working conditions, staff retention, and care quality. |
An Act to Improve Massachusetts Home Care (Rep. Tom Stanley / Sen. Pat Jehlen; HD.1449 / SD.1036) |
Improves oversight over homecare agency employers, better prepares public health emergencies, and reduces the far-too-common abuse, discrimination, and workplace bullying of homecare workers and/or their consumer clients. |
Local Option for Rent Stabilization and Just-Cause Eviction (Sen. Pat Jehlen & Sen. Adam Gomez/Rep. Dave Rogers & Rep. Sam Montano; HD.2501/SD.1084) |
Creates a local option for rent stabilization with just-cause eviction protections to boost affordability and keep residents in Massachusetts. |
