Quincy, Mass (June 7, 2022) – The following is a statement from Tim Foley, Executive Vice President of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, regarding the statements that have been made by Dr. Jennifer Childs-Roshak, CEO of Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM):
“Recently, the anti-union comments made by Dr. Jennifer Childs-Roshak, CEO of Planned Parenthood Massachusetts, to her employees are contradictory to previous public statements about supporting the choices of her employees. Regardless, 1199SEIU wants to reinforce that all workers deserve the right to make an informed decision on their own about whether to form a union, free from intimidation and in a non-coercive environment.
PPLM workers have been at the forefront of protecting access to gender-affirming and reproductive healthcare. Now more than ever, it is critical to recognize and elevate worker voices, not silence them. At 1199SEIU, we are committed to making sure that healthcare workers have a seat at the table – for each other and those they care for.”
