1199SEIU Roundup: April 14, 2017

April 14, 2017

Winning contracts.

Strengthening our 1199 family.

Standing up for our values.

Together, we are creating a more perfect union for us all. 1199SEIU Massachusetts is about unity and worker power. Take a look at what we're up to in our workplaces and communities:

ADVOCACY DAY

1199ers from hospitals, health centers, nursing homes, and home care participated in our annual Healthcare Worker Advocacy Day on April 12! We met with our legislators and advocated for legislative and budget priorities that will promote quality care and equity in our communities.

Stay tuned for information about calling and emailing our legislators to make sure our voices are heard! Together, we will continue to build our political power.

SEIU Fights Back

We are stronger together. On April 12, immediately after 1199ers met with legislators, we joined SEIU Local 888, SEIU 509, 32BJ SEIU and Congresswoman Katherine Clark at a rally outside the State House. To continue our resistance to the extreme federal agenda. We stand united with our allies to ensure the Commonwealth continues to lead the nation on affordable healthcare coverage, inclusion and economic justice.

CONTRACT VICTORY!

After six months of negotiating with management and two different nursing home administrators, 1199ers at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst have unanimously ratified their contract! Congratulations to our brothers and sisters at CECA. Together, we are stronger.

FIRST FRIDAY

Every first Friday of the month, 1199ers gather for a night of good food, great company and lots of fun. The event is hosted by the Purple & Gold Caucus. It is child friendly and a great time filled with music and games. This month, dozens of 11199ers socialized in our union hall. Join us on May 5th either in Quincy or the Hyannis office for our next First Friday.
