On Saturday, May 5, the 1199SEIU African American Caucus (AFRAM) celebrated Mother’s Day with a special brunch for mothers.

The men of AFRAM put together a presentation to the crowd of more than 50 guests with Boston Medical Center union member Esau Entzminger serving as the master of the ceremony. Esau spoke of his late mother and the wonderful job she did raising him.

Mothers Nadia Vilmont and Thelma Woodson, both union members at BMC, spoke about their mothers and the challenges facing mothers today.

A PowerPoint presentation was also presented that highlighted famous quotes about mothers and motherhood.

Annie Mae Bell, a Boston personal care attendant, said she was touched by the presentations.

“It was a joyful event and a blessing to have the mothers out and to have everyone celebrating being a mother,” she said.
