CNAs at Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waltham, MA secure a pathway to $15 per hour

July 27, 2015

On July 11th, caregivers at Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waltham, MA unanimously ratified a new two year contract agreement which includes a pathway to $15 per hour for CNAs.

Inspired by the national Fight for $15 movement, the new contract achieves important progress on wages for workers at the facility. The agreement, which covers over sixty workers at the nursing home, includes a pathway to $15 per hour for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) that have worked at the facility for seven years and wage increases for all other workers. In addition, the new contract provides an increase in sick time benefits.

Saih Kpakima is a CNA from Maristhill, and said, “I have been working there for seven years and have only received a 2% raise. This year, I stood with my union and fought for $15 an hour and won. Unions unite workers together to improve their lives. I’m so happy by our victory!”
