Massachusetts Healthcare Workers Blast Republican Tax Bill

Massachusetts' largest and fastest growing healthcare union condemns Republican tax bill that is bad for working Americans

Boston, MA (November 17, 2017) – Tyrék D. Lee, Sr., Executive Vice President of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, issued the following statement in response to the Republican tax bill:

“The Republican tax bill passed by the House would be a disaster for working Americans and a giveaway to the top 1 percent. The bill punishes students whose loans will be taxed, the sick who will lose healthcare deductions, homeowners and states like Massachusetts that invest in their communities, schools and healthcare. The Senate version is equally tilted to the top 1 percent and would destroy the gains made under the Affordable Care Act, rob 13 million Americans of insurance and send premiums for others through the roof. No one who cares about working families, education, healthcare or basic fairness can support either bill.”
