1199SEIU Demands Prompt Pay for CDPAP Workers

Unacceptable For Caregivers to Experience Payroll Delays

In anticipation of tomorrow’s first scheduled paycheck for caregivers since New York’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (“CDPAP”) transitioned from over 700 fiscal intermediaries to one statewide partner, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East issued the following statement:

“We urge all parties to act quickly to ensure that personal assistants caring for CDPAP consumers are promptly paid for all hours worked. Sadly, this transition has been mired with purposeful misinformation spread by bad actors driven by their own greed, leading to confusion and now threatening the prompt payment of wages for these dedicated caregivers–many who live paycheck to paycheck–and that is simply unacceptable. A strong home care workforce is key in ensuring that seniors and people living with disabilities can continue living with dignity in their own homes.”
