1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, the largest healthcare union in North America which represents over 450,000 healthcare workers including more than 8,000 caregivers in New Jersey, announced its support of LaMonica McIver for New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District.

“LaMonica has a strong record of fighting for workers' rights, advocating for racial justice, and promoting fairness for all community members, including immigrants. As Council President of Newark’s City Council, she has shown her dedication to the issues that matter to 1199SEIU members, such as increasing wages. Now, she's ready to take on the late Congressman Payne's seat as the representative of New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District,” said Rhina Molina, Executive Vice President of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.

There is a special Democratic primary on Tuesday, July 16 to replace the late Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. who died in April.
