Members of 1199SEIU, the New York Central Labor Council and other labor and progressive organizations joined workers at from the City University of New York’s Research Foundation on their picket line May 21 as they demonstrated outside CUNY’s Journalism School in midtown Manhattan.

The demonstrators called on the University to settle a fair contract that preserves workers’ benefits and provides meaningful wage increases. Research Foundation management is refusing to negotiate good-faith compromises and is targeting new employees for excessive concessions.

Workers vow to stay strong and not allow management to push them backwards.
