Healthcare Workers Strongly Endorse “Empire State Equity Act”
March 30, 2017
Federal legislation would increase Medicaid support for NY State & reduce property taxes
“The Empire State Equity Act would make Federal funding for New York State’s Medicaid program more equitable and is exactly the kind of conversation we should be having in Washington. Millions of New York children, seniors, people with disabilities and working families depend on Medicaid for vital care and support. This bill, along with Governor Cuomo's successful initiatives to ensure cost efficiency and effectiveness in the Medicaid program and provide financial relief to local governments, is a great example of state and federal elected leaders working together to benefit New Yorkers. We applaud the Governor and Congress members Engel, Tonko, Crowley, Maloney, Espaillat and Suozzi for making constructive proposals on healthcare funding. This stands in stark contrast to the American Health Care Act, which would have stripped billions from our state and put New Yorkers at risk.”
