Our 2013 Holiday Party: A Night to Remember

Boy, oh boy, does 1199 know how to throw a party!
Held at the Sheraton Hotel Times Square in New York City, our union’s 2013 holiday party was nothing less than fabulous. Delegates from all over came together; we each brought a toy part of a union toy drive for underprivileged children.
There were tasty hor d’oeuvres, a delicious buffet and all sorts of fantastic beverages. The party occupied three levels and offered something for everyone’s tastes. If you wanted to dance a little of salsa, there was a room for you. How about some Haitian music? This party had you covered. We spent most of our night, dancing, laughing and reminiscing with our departing organizer, Dr. Patricia Marthone. I even got to have a caricature drawing of me made!
We were even joined by the newly elected Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio, who thanked 1199 members for all of their support and confirmed his commitment to work with our union to make the city an even better place, especially for working people and health care. Maryland’s Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, who our union has endorsed in his bid for Governor in 2014, was also present to thank 1199 members and affirm his commitment to caregivers.
I will definitely be there next year, and hopefully you will be too.
