“Taking Care of Caretakers” lays out wage increases resulting in $330 million public assistance savings for the state, up to $535 million in economic growth and less worker turnover

NEW YORK, NY - Independent Democratic Conference Leader Jeff Klein (D-Westchester/Bronx) and State Senator Diane Savino (D-Brooklyn/Staten Island) will join George Gresham, president of 1199 SEIU, to rally for a $15 minimum wage for home health aides, direct care workers and personal care aides TOMORROW, Thursday, February 18, at 2 P.M. Workers will share personal stories on the struggle to live on poverty-level wages.

Senators Klein and Savino will also release a report, “Taking Care of our Caretakers,” laying out the IDC’s proposal to raise the wage, which will result in public assistance savings to the state, increased economic activity, job creation and less worker turnover.
