NYC Mayoral Candidate Bill de Blasio Commits Civil Disobedience to Save Hospital
July 12, 2013
Bill de Blasio, New York City mayoral candidate, committed civil disobedience in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King and was arrested during a protest to save Long Island College Hospital (LICH) on July 10. LICH provides vital healthcare services and over 2,200 jobs to communities in Brooklyn, and Bill de Blasio is standing with 1199 members to keep our hospital open for care. The passion and commitment that Bill de Blasio showed at this protest is why our union’s Executive Council unanimously endorsed him for Mayor, and why we will be out in full force volunteering for his campaign. Talk to your organizer today, email deBlasioVolunteers@1199.org or call 212.408.8416 to sign up!
