1199 members and staff joined with more than a thousand protestors in a march from the Liberty Pole in Downtown Rochester to the Federal Building. They were marching to raise awareness around the killing of Trayvon Martin in Florida and to demand the arrest of his killer, self-appointed vigilante George Zimmerman. When the marchers arrived at the Federal Building, 1199 Organizer Demond Meeks gave out the number of the Florida States Attorney and asked the protesters to call to demand prosecution of Zimmerman. Zola Brown of the 1199 Benefit Fund designed several flyers which were used by 1199 members and community members that took part in the march.
