WHAT: Community based small and mid-size cultural arts organizations have joined together to host a candidates forum on Arts and Public Policy. Award winning Journalist and Founder of The Futuro Media Group, Maria Hinojosa will be the host of the event. As candidates interested in guiding New York City through its next phase of growth, it is important that their agenda on cultural equity be heard and understood.

Given that New York City is home to global ethnic migrant and immigrant communities, it is important for the future leadership of this great city to move forward an agenda that is inclusive and is grounded in the principles of equity that will dismantle racial, ethnic, cultural and economic discriminatory practices. Small and mid-size cultural arts organizations are vital to the economic and cultural growth of the communities they serve. Unfortunately, many small to mid-sized community based non-profits have had to compromise their services as a result of disproportionate distribution of resources. Candidates will have the opportunity to describe their visions for New York City, focusing on how they plan to empower non-profit cultural arts community based organizations. The audience will be allowed to ask questions and participate in the discussion.
