Healthcare Workers Blast Senate Republicans’ Vote to Proceed with Repeal of Affordable Care Act

Boston, MA (July 25, 2017) – In response to today’s vote on Senate Republicans’ healthcare bill, Tyrék D. Lee, Sr., Executive Vice President of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, issued the following statement:

“With one shameful vote, Senate Republicans today chose politics over people and moved a step closer to stripping healthcare coverage away from millions of Americans – with no clear plan to replace it and not a single public hearing. They proved once again that they are content to ignore the overwhelming opposition of healthcare workers, providers, advocates and consumers in Massachusetts and across the country just to give a massive tax cut to the wealthy.

We will not let them get away with this immoral act. Just as we have before, we will resist repeal of our healthcare without a viable plan to improve it for our families, our communities and the people in our care. We will unite with our allies to demand a transparent process and fight for a bipartisan solution that provides quality, affordable healthcare coverage for all Americans.”
