Orlando, FL – Today, radio ads in Spanish and English will begin airing on local radio stations to help mobilize thousands of Central Floridians to join the NAACP and 1199SEIU-sponsored march demanding justice for Trayvon Martin on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM from Crooms Academy, 2200 West 13th Street in Sanford and to the Sanford Police Department at 815 West 13th Street.

Trayvon Martin, 17, was shot to death after being confronted by Sanford neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, 28, on February 26, 2012. Zimmerman told Sanford Police that he shot the unarmed black teenager in self-defense. Supporters are calling for Zimmerman's arrest.

The English language ad, which features the voice of one of Trayvon Martin’s high school classmates, will be aired on Star 94.5FM, Power 95.3FM and online stations in The Aquarius 7 Broadcasting Network (A7BN.com) beginning Thursday, March 29 and running through Saturday, March 31. The Spanish language ads will be aired on La Grande 1030AM.

“I know when my kids hear these ads with a young person encouraging them to get involved, it’s going to inspire them to get their classmates and their parents to march for Trayvon,” said Shantee Howard, a life-long Sanford resident and a member of both the NAACP and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, a statewide healthcare workers union. “My kids know what happened to Trayvon was a crime and it’s up to us as adults to make sure that justice is served.”
