Miami, Fla. – SEIU Florida applauds State Senator Rene Garcia (R-Miami) and State Representative Jose Javier Rodriguez (D-Miami) for co-hosting tonight’s forum in Spanish and English that will share information with the public about the fast-approaching enrollment period for the Health Insurance Marketplace, a key component of the Affordable Care Act.

The two legislators decided to come together after hearing from their constituents, in what will be Florida’s first bi-partisan forum/town hall on healthcare reform and how hardworking families can begin exploring their options and enroll for health insurance coverage.

However, SEIU Florida will make it a point to educate and empower the nearly million tax-paying Floridians who will be left behind because of the inactions of extremists in the Florida legislature. SEIU continues to support legislation, such as the bill passed with near unanimous support (38 to one) in the Florida Senate, where more than one million hardworking, tax-paying Floridians would have gained the health coverage they deserve.

What: The Healthcare Marketplace and You Forum

When: 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22nd

Where: CAMACOL (Latin Chamber of Commerce)

1417 West Flagler Street

Miami, Florida 33135
