Meet Kathleen Ball, who has been an 1199SEIU member and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at BridgePoint Hospital in Southeast DC since June 2005. Her residents and fellow union members have long recognized what an exceptional CNA and coworker she is, and her facility awarded her Employee of the Year this year.

UM Capital Region Medical Center, meet your newest Delegate, RN Tamara Burgess and wish her a happy work anniversary! Tamara has been a nurse at Capital Region since July 2020, and she gives care at the Critical Care Unit (CCU). She explained, “This unit is unique because we take care of patients who are either walking and talking or they can be sedated and on the vent. So, it’s a broad spectrum, so you have to be prepared to do anything where you go.”

MIAMI---Members 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East rallied in Miami to show unity with Cuban citizens demanding freedom and fairness after decades of government tyranny, violence and corruption. Caregivers and other staff at Kendall Regional Medical Center marched, displayed signs and chanted support for brave Cubans who have taken to the streets calling for basic living needs and government reform.

In a powerful display of love and solidarity, hundreds of 1199ers and allies packed Bayard Street in New York City’s Chinatown for a rally on May 27 in support of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. With the action, 1199ers made clear their solidarity with the AAPI community and the insistence that all must stand up in the face of the current racist attacks on Asian Americans.
