NEW YORK (July 29, 2021) – Hundreds of healthcare heroes from 1199SEIU – the largest healthcare union in the nation – today held lunchtime ‘High Noon’-style rallies to demand a fair contract at hospitals and nursing homes.

Gasport, NY - Absolut Care at Gasport and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers are pleased to announce that they have agreed to the terms of a 3-year contract. Healthcare workers voted to ratify the agreement on Wednesday June 23rd. Both sides worked collaboratively to create an agreement that illustrated Absolut Care at Gasport’s commitment to its frontline healthcare workers and continuity of care for residents.

In early June, New York Presbyterian Hospital announced plans to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for all staff. In response, 199SEIU President George Gresham released the following statement: “We are not in agreement with a mandate of the COVID-19 vaccine.
