1199ers joined this year’s Faithful Sunday on September 23, a collective day of voter registration and education at Syracuse-area churches. Together with the Syracuse NAACP, the Syracuse Alumnae of Delta Sigma Theta, and Citizen Action, 1199 members volunteered to sign-up unregistered voters after services. (1199ers along registered 50 new voters.) Local clergy members discussed the importance of voting during their services and encouraged their congregants to participate in the electoral process. Volunteers also collected information from people who may need rides to the polls on November 6th.
